One of the most iconic flight jackets of all time receives a 'counterculture cool' update from Buzz Rickson's, being released in an all-black variant as part of their William Gibson Collection.
The collaboration was established in 2004 after Gibson attributed a black MA-1 to Buzz Rickson's, worn by the main character in his novel 'Pattern Recognition'. The jacket didn't exist, but such demand for the jacket spurred Buzz Rickson's to reach out and create a collection inspired by the fictional all-black MA-1.
Produced in small numbers, this staple in the Buzz catalogue receives an all-black makeover and this 55J-14 is a standout piece from the collection. The U.S Navy jacket which would eventually become known as the G-1 is a fantastically engineered piece which exudes functionality and style.
The Buzz Rickson's x William Gibson G-1 Leather Jacket is cut in Japan from the finest vegetable tanned, hand semi-aniline dyed Goatskin. The 1/2 inch shearling collar features mouton and is complimented by the fine grade 100% wool knits on both cuffs and waistband. The zip front features a Talon Mil Spec Nickel finished zip while the snap buttons used meet U.S. Government Department of Defense specs.
The contract 55J-14 is complete with mil spec urea buttons while a trim, short silhouette completes the look on this cracking piece.
